Cascade Locks Tourism Committee Matching Grant Program
Typical grant awards range from $100 to $1,000. They are awarded for projects or event funding intended to market and promote activities, special events, and/or sustainable tourism year-round, fostering local economic development through tourism. The purpose of the matching grant program is to provide funds for marketing, and other qualified expenses directed towards increasing the number of overnight visitors to Cascade Locks from outside the area, specifically beyond 50 miles of the City.
Examples of past awards for FY 2014-15
Columbia Gorge Racing Association, help with developing a new promotional video highlighting the 20-year anniversary in Cascade Locks (2016) with sailing races and events, drawing participants and spectators from around the world.
Women in Motion International Art Show, held in April 2015 with art demonstrations, art shows and a fashion show by women artists.
Bike Peace Music Festival, held on Thunder Island in Marine Park in July 2015, celebrating the messages of peace, great music and bicycling in the beautiful Columbia River Gorge.
Cascade Locks Historical Museum, with help printing a new brochure that features new exhibits and displays, and newly designed membership invitation insert.
Pacific Crest Trail Days, which celebrates outdoor recreation, trail stewardship and the promotion of hiking areas with safety and fun in mind. The grant was awarded for event promotion, marketing and increasing more visitors to the event and coming back again!
